Over the past two weeks, I involved in inspiring community activities that reflect the true meaning of service, unity, and positive change. These experiences brought together young people, community members, and sports lovers, all working hand in hand for the good of society.

Youth at Work: Renewing a Football Pitch for the Community
On Saturday, 27 September 2025, I joined a public activity (Umuganda) that brought together youth volunteers from IYF Rwanda, Ramba FC, and local residents of Agakiriro-Kimironko. The aim was to improve a local football pitch so that young people would have a safe and better place to play and spend their free time in good way.

The activity was led by Murwanashaka Augustin, a dedicated youth leader from IYF Rwanda and President of Ramba FC. I participated both as an action reporter and an active volunteer, capturing moments of teamwork, energy, and hope.
Everyone worked hard clearing the ground, leveling the field, and shaping it into a more suitable football pitch. Beyond just building a playing ground, this activity symbolized the power of youth working together for community progress.

Promoting Health and Unity Through Sports
The following weekend of 04th October, I also participated in the first training session of Ramba FC held at their new football ground of UR-Remera Campus. The session marked an exciting new playground opening for the team, which brings together both young and older people for one common purpose: promoting health, discipline, and unity through sports.
Ramba FC is more than just a football club, it is a community movement. Its mission is to keep older people active and help prevent non-communicable diseases, while at the same time guiding young people away from negative behaviors such as drug use and other harmful activities. Through sports, Ramba FC creates a bridge between generations, encouraging teamwork, friendship, and healthy living.

Personal Reflection: Growing Through Community and Journalism
Being part of these activities has deeply strengthened my passion for community engagement and journalism. Reporting from the field, capturing stories of real people, and participating in the change has reminded me why I chose Mass Communication and Journalism, to tell stories that matter.
These experiences have also enhanced my mobile journalism skills, communication abilities, and understanding of how culture and sports can be powerful tools for positive transformation. I truly enjoyed every moment, from the energy of youth at work to the smiles of people united by a shared goal.
End, both activities reminded me that journalism is not just about writing stories, it is about living them. And as I continue my journey, I’m proud to use my voice and skills to promote community development, sports, and culture in Rwanda.
